History  //  SCS yesterday today and tomorrow

Stouffville Christian School was founded in 1981 by a group of parents who wanted Christ-centered teaching for their children. After much prayer and planning, SCS became a reality. It was the vision of the founding families and churches that the school offer an education that is based on Biblical Principles.

From our modest beginnings, SCS offered education from its leased space in portable buildings attached to a rural church just outside Stouffville. This location offered low operating costs, but became problematic as the aging infrastructure required frequent and costly repairs.

As an interim step toward achieving its strategic plan, SCS moved into EastRidge Church in the summer of 2007 with an agreement to share approximately 8000 square feet of classroom space with the church. The move significantly increased the visibility of SCS, and made it more convenient for many families as the move placed it closer to key student population centers such as Markham and Stouffville. In three years the school was able to fully fund its yearly operating budget and fully pay off all long term debt. SCS was also able to raise the funds needed to build out space in the new facility at Springvale Baptist Church.

In September 2010 SCS moved to the corner of Stouffville Road and Kennedy Road in a new facility inside Springvale Baptist Church. This move has proven to be a positive one. SCS is enjoying the benefits and conveniences of having their own space.

SCS continues to look to the future. The vision is to have our own facility. We pray that in the Lord’s time this will become a reality. We continue to pray for His guidance and leading as we look to the future.
